Subject: LWVOC Newsletter & Events
From: Lisa K Adkins

From Black History Month which ends today to Women's History Month which begins tomorrow, it's a good reminder that both are more than celebratory moments as they're recognitions of a more complete American history.  LWVOC's programs including the Hot Topics "Lift Every Voice" read RECAP here and the upcoming 5th Annual Women's History Breakfast register HERE are our commitments to learning (and re-learning) the overlooked contributions and heroes of the past and present.  *Be sure to scroll to the end of this newsletter to see two community events of interest, one about Black culture and the other about a revered woman of the judiciary.

From budget reductions to controversial social media restrictions for teens, will the legislature address enough of the serious issues confronting Floridians to make this a successful session?  With all eyes on the elections, it's unlikely the Legislature will make big waves like last year. And yet ... stay tuned and find out during the March Hot Topics legislative debrief with panelists Jason Garcia of the "Seeking Rents” newsletter and podcast and Skyler Swisher of the Orlando Sentinel.   Also joining us is political analyst and UCF professor Aubrey Jewitt.  Retired Chief Circuit Judge Fred Lauten will moderate.
