GOTV...what is that? It means "Get Out the Vote" and is perhaps what the League of Women Voters is best known for. Our Voter Services' teams are at community events distributing election/voter information and the League's Speakers Bureau is available to present a variety of topics. Former LWVOC President Rosemary Durocher helped lead the fight for gender equality. “I am very proud of my time in the League,” she said. “It has been the single thread that goes all through my life. Leaguer Kam Shenai has some thoughts about your participation in election 2026. Democracy is not a spectator sport--"Ordinary citizens built what we have.  Lifetime LWVOC member Linda Chapin has been chosen to co-chair the Orange County Tourism Tax Citizen Advisory Task Force, charged with making recommendations on $3 billion in community projects. She was LWVOC president, 1976-78, and Orange County's first mayor, 1990-1998. Winnie Hogue (shown bottom right with Leaguer Alisha Taylor) of the Speakers Bureau led a focused presentation on the upcoming election Tuesday 7/21 at St. Mark AME Church in Orlando. The Know Your Ballot-Educational Forum hosted by Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc-Chi Tau Chapter is the first of two events the LWVOC has partnered with. Joining Winnie were Voter Services members Jane Hursh, Marsha Davis and Natalie Ford (shown top right). At least 55 people attended to be #VoteReady and we look forward to joining the "Orlando Ques" at the second event on 7/28 at St Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Taft.
