LWVOC in the COMMUNITY
Tiffany Hughes represented the League of Women Voters Orange County at last week's Democracy Project event.
"As president of LWVOC, it brings me joy to know that we have prioritized standing along side and supporting our students. I see so much hope in the actions of students around Central Florida and beyond.
Thank you to the Democracy Project at Rollins College for inviting me to speak at the Politics on Tap event. It was a phenomenal showing of active student engagement, civil discourse and a bit of Gen Z Jeopardy as well!
To our students:  Find an issue that you are passionate about, and then work on it over and over again. Your community will become what you want to see, if you work to make it happen.  #gotars "

An enthusiastic group of league leaders gathered to participate in Part 1 of a Storytelling Workshop on Friday, March 29. Led by Master Story Teller Alice Fairfax; everyone left with a bundle of ideas on a League story each will prepare for the final session coming soon!

LWVOC in partnership:
The Alpha Kappa Alpha 71st Southern Atlantic Regional Conference in Orlando began April 3rd with a Voter Mobilization Event at St. Mark AME Church. The AKA’s partnered with local voting rights groups including the LWVOC, Equal Ground, OC Branch of the NAACP, Faith in Florida, Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, and Florida Rising. A canvas activity was planned but was canceled due to weather, and a voter empowerment presentation was provided by Equal Ground followed by remarks from elected officials and partners. The event closed with a dynamic call to action from mother and daughter democracy defenders Dr. Lavon Bracy and Rep. Lavon Bracy Davis. Joan Erwin, Linda Dalton, Sadie Holzmeyer, and Saudi Ellis attended on behalf of the LWVOC.
