The League of Women Voters of Orange County has a history of more than 80 years in this community as an activist, grassroots organization whose members believe citizens should play a critical role in advocacy.  We do not endorse or oppose political candidates or parties at any level of government.  Our advocacy positions are based on the merits of each issue, after careful study and consensus.

#GivingTuesday, the global day of financial support and unity, has kicked off the holiday season.  For all those who participated, thank you!  And if you missed it, you have until DEC 31 to make a 2021 tax-deductible donation supporting our efforts to defend democracy and empower voters.

Curious about why our League continues to need financial support regardless of dues?  Scroll to bottom of newsletter and see how membership dues are allocated between local/state/national League organizations.  With our lack of revenue opportunities due to two years of pandemic stress, we're very appreciative of your monetary support as well as committee involvement.

We're looking forward to seeing you in-person again at our holiday festivities.  On the menu from Cuisiniers:  Salmon, chicken, roasted asparagus and carrots, potatoes dauphinois, beverage and dessert.
Vegetarian upon request.  Must be pre-ordered ASAP--contact Karen Estrin
Our program includes entertainment by Lynn Peghiny, as well as member recognition.

At that time, the group had about 50 members and was still called the Winter Park-Orlando League.  Continue reading HERE.

Redistricting news:  League leader unhappy with access to detailed data driving reapportionment.
The president of the League of Women Voters of Florida has called upon the state Senate to release precinct-level data pertaining to race and voting behavior to allow independent analysis of congressional and legislative reapportionment plans now under development.
President Cecile Scoon argued during a meeting of the Senate Select Committee on Legislative Reapportionment on Monday afternoon that the Senate has acquired those data under a contract with Florida State University, but hasn’t released the more granular details to the public. Continue reading at The Florida Phoenix
