The League of Women Voters of Orange County has a history of more than 80 years in this community as an activist, grassroots organization whose members believe citizens should play a critical role in advocacy.  We do not endorse or oppose political candidates or parties at any level of government.  Our advocacy positions are based on the merits of each issue, after careful study and consensus.

LWVOC is back to participating at physical events!  Also, our Zoom events will continue as committees have learned that participation is sometimes easier around work hours.  Plan to participate with the LWVOC physically or digitally and visit the Events Calendar to stay up-to-date.

The Boys & Girls Clubs 2nd Annual College Fair was a great success thanks to the hard work of Betty Saulpaugh and Saudi Ellis.  It was held OCT 28, and due to rain, moved from the planned site at the club to a nearby parking garage.  Fortunately, it's always staged as a drive by.  Read more about our memorable volunteer time HERE,

Leaguers participated recently in "The Blind Experience-Moving Without Limits" event.  Sighted guests were asked to don a mask and be guided as a blind person would crossing Anderson and Orange Avenues using the facilities available.  Shown l. to r. Co-President Barbara Lanning, Virginia Meany, Marilyn Baldwin, and Karolyn Campbell.

This week's webinar will feature a conversation surrounding the First Amendment. Former Florida Supreme Court Justice Peggy Quince and Pamela Marsh of the First Amendment Foundation will join us to discuss a certain First Amendment issue plaguing our state as well as sharing general knowledge surrounding the topic.

A message from LWVOC Education Committee:
We want to make sure our league members have the opportunity to participate in this Harvard Case Study Community session with Dr. David Moss, who launched this project via Harvard. Now we have 8 high school teachers who have been nominated and consequently attended the Harvard training. These 8 teachers from Orange County schools are now eligible to facilitate our local community sessions. Our league is currently planning our next community session for March 2022 (face to face or zoom TBD). Our goal is to expand the number of community sessions through the spring and summer of 2022. The covid virus certainly stalled all of plans for 2020 and 2021. However we will persevere!

Equal Ground who partners with the League frequently, is looking for a County Manager.  Position will be responsible for building a robust volunteer and grassroots organizing operation, engaging in coalition building activities, coordinating with key stakeholders, and managing paid outreach staff within your assigned region. Responsibilities may grow to include managing a team and a paid canvass operation. This position may require frequent travel throughout your assigned county.
