The LWVOC planted its commemorative “Voter Tree” Oct., 20, 2019, in Cypress Grove Park, 290 Holden Avenue, Orlando.

The live oak was planted in honor of the LWVOC’s 80th birthday. The cost of the tree was underwritten by LWVOC past presidents, and Orange County Parks is providing continual nurturing.

Tuesday’s gathering was purposely small, masked, and socially distanced, in respect for the pandemic, but the group hopes the LWVOC will celebrate every year at the Voter Tree, in tribute to our precious right to vote.

“We’re delighted to see that our tree is thriving and growing rapidly,” said Ann Patton, member of the History Committee, which shepherded the project.
