How can you make a difference as Orange County Sheriff?
As Sheriff, I am the chief law enforcement officer for the county. It will be my responsibility to lead the way in fighting crime and building team work across jurisdictional lines.

The violent crime rate is escalating and your safety is my concern. The "village" concept of placing more deputies in areas near where you reside and work will allow more patrol visibility and presence along with quicker response times.

I know the agency. I have worked every area of the Sheriff's Office. I have been in charge of critical areas such as the undercover operations where my job was to insure your safety on September 11, 2001, lead a hurricane relief team, work with large budgets, and personnel.

I have the endorsements of all the public safety organizations in Orange County including ones that have worked for my opponents.

What are the top three challenges facing the Sheriff's Office?
Whether career criminals or gang members, violent crime is attacked by placing more uniform deputies on our streets. By hiring part-time retired law enforcement officials and civilians to take over many of the office jobs, we can get more guns and badges back on our streets to combat violent crime.

There are juveniles being arrested and being placed on probation repeatedly. Essentially, there are no consequences for many of the crimes being committed by juveniles. Already, I have met with some judges and state representatives to work on getting laws in place to go after the habitual juvenile offenders.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office employees are among the lowest paid in our area. To ensure that we do not lose well-qualified employees to other higher-paying agencies, their pay and benefits must be raised. This can be done by reallocating money already in the existing budget.

How will you work with other agencies to ensure a safer Orange County?
As Police Chief of Edgewood and as a member of the Police Chiefs Association, I currently meet with all the Police Chiefs in our county on a monthly basis. We have a great working relationship and I look forward to continuing meetings with them after I am elected Sheriff.

I am endorsed by the Orange County Sheriff's Office through the Central Florida Police Benevolent Association and the Fraternal Order of Police. I am also endorsed by the Orlando Police Department and Orange County Corrections Fraternal Order of Police along with the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association which are all organizations that have worked for my opponent. All of these organizations are asking voters to support John Tegg. These organizations know that we can work together to achieve a safer place for us to live, work, and play. I am humbled to be endorsed by so many great public safety organizations.
