Subject: A Letter from Our Co-Presidents

Dear LWVOC Members:

Our Program Planning Meeting is scheduled 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM Sat., Jan. 25, at the Winter Park Community Center, 721 W. New England Ave. Doors open at 9:00 AM for continental breakfast, with our session beginning promptly at 9:30 AM. Registration is required with a $15 fee to cover space rental and breakfast.  Click here to register:  9:30 AM - 12:30 PM ANNUAL PLANNING MEETING - 1/25/2020

The objective of Program Planning is to work together to set our priority initiatives for the next fiscal year, which begins April 1. As a grassroots organization, you will work with peers in roundtable discussions to propose and prioritize 3-5 initiatives, and then you will individually vote on your top 3 priorities. Our collective top 3-5 priorities as set by the membership will be reflected in our Program Plan for action, such as for budgeting, Hot Topics, articles, position papers, partnerships, forums, etc. This may lead us to new initiatives or even new committees. Similar grassroots planning will be occurring at every local league across the country.

Again, this year Advocacy Committee Chairs will host and record new initiatives on flip chart pages as proposed from the Roundtable discussions. As a member, you will have an opportunity to vote for your top 3 priorities. Votes will be tabulated and reported before we adjourn. You will also hear from both Advocacy (education, gun safety, transportation, etc.) and Support (membership, history, communication, etc.) Committee Chairs, giving you a solid debrief on all that we are about and an opportunity to consider where else you can plug in to get involved.

We know it’s a busy time of the year—especially for the League. Our Holiday Party last Thursday was a terrific success with delicious food, fellowship, and fun. Thank you to the strong team who planned and executed this dinner event under the expert direction of our Treasurer, Karen Estrin.

One more thing: you should have received notice about your membership renewal. Let’s all renew and bring in family and friends to top 1,000 members to start the year when we commemorate 100 years of women’s suffrage, #Votes4All, and our critical 2020 elections.

Roll up your sleeves! We have a lot of work to do to empower voters and defend democracy.

Expect great things to happen!

Warmest regards,

Your Co-Presidents: Gloria Pickar and Sandi Vidal
