Citrus Singers Girl Scouts will help plant The Voter tree Oct. 20

A Girl Scouts chorus will be singing patriotic songs as part of the celebration when the LWVOC plants The Voter tree Oct. 20, according to History Committee Chair Joan Erwin.

The live oak tree commemorates the LWVOC’s 80th birthday and our precious right to vote.

The celebration begins at 2 pm Sunday, Oct. 20, at Cypress Grove Park, 290 Holden Ave., Orlando. The festivities will include live music, giveaways, and refreshments.

Speakers include Linda Chapin, former Orange County Mayor who was also 1976-78 LWVOC president; Orange County Dist. 3 Comm. Mayra Uribe; Patricia Brigham, LWVFL President; and Gloria Pickar, LWVOC Co-President.

The Citrus Singers Girl Scouts Chorus is a collective of talented Girl Scouts from five counties in the Central Florida area.  They are believed to be the only Girl Scouts chorus in the nation. They will also present colors for the ceremony.

Under the direction of Susie Reale, the Citrus Singers have performed at Seaworld, Universal Studios, Gaylord Palms, Lake Eola and on national television at the Citrus Bowl. Their selections are meant to inspire as well as entertain while each Girl Scout grows in confidence thru performance. Their popular videos include one named “All About that Badge” that can be viewed at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9WwksyVs2g
