Warriors for Democracy: The Story of the Orange County League of Women Voters,
a multimedia presentation presented by LWVOC members

Sunday, April 14, 2 – 4 p.m.

2019 Series in Partnership with the League of Women Voters of Orange County

Travel back over the past eight decades in Central Florida with this multimedia presentation that tells the story of Orange County’s League of Women Voters—the largest single-county chapter in the nation, celebrating its 80th anniversary this spring. League members will recount their crusades to empower voters and defend democracy, beginning with the struggles to extend voting rights to women. Milestones also include advocating for open government and election reforms and protecting children and the environment. The program features highlights from the Orange County League’s forthcoming book, Warriors for Democracy. For more information, see LWVOC.org.

Our 2019 series is presented in partnership with the League of Women Voters of Orange County, Florida, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. This series honors the late Orlando journalist and freedom-of-information advocate Joseph L. Brechner. All programs take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Chapin Gallery on the fourth floor of the Orange County Regional History Center and are free. The History Center is offering free-parking validation for this event.
