Why are you running for this office, and what qualities and
skills do you bring to this position?
I'm again running for Mayor to maintain the village character
of Winter Park through effective codes and zoning and without increasing
the tax burden on citizens.
My background in economics, finance, business administration and
a lifetime career in development and managing multi-million dollar
assets, qualifies and equips me for the immediate challenges facing
our City.

What is your current position on SunRail (commuter rail) within
the City Of Winter Park, including station location?
The good news is it's coming to Winter Park and citizens will have
5 years to decide if it works for our City. The City Commission
of 2017 will decide if they wish to continue the operation of the
commuter station in Central Park. If they choose to continue to
support the station, citizens will decide on how to pay for it.
They can choose a dedicated funding source (a tax) or to pay outright
from the City's budget.. I feel five years is a reasonable testing
period for commuter rail and then together citizens and the City
Commission will decide upon the future of a commuter rail stop in
Winter Park.

What are the top 3 priority issues facing your community, and
what actions would you take to address them if elected to office?
As Mayor, my top priority is to provide the essential services
ensuring the safety of citizens. The challenge is to do so in a
period of declining revenue. I'll continue to work closely with
the City Manager determining which departments and projects can
be reduced without jeopardizing priority services such as police
and fire. (We've already reduced the budget by $3.2 million.) My
second priority is to maintain Winter Park's special assets, including
parks and open spaces, our residential neighborhoods and Park Avenue.
Thirdly I'll continue to encourage quality development. Our comprehensive
plan, which will soon be adopted, specifies clear guidelines for
development, including intense development in designated areas.
To further encourage diversified development, we have hired a top-tier
Economic Director. She is actively soliciting new commerce to our
City, including high-tech businesses. I can assure citizens that
we're aggressively pursuing many options to expand the City's tax
base.
