Why are you running for this office, and what qualities and
skills do you bring to this position?
I am running for this office because I want to ensure that the
citizens are heard when there are important decisions to make. I've
demonstrated my commitment to the city and residents through years
of service on citizen advisory boards, community volunteerism and
active involvement in important city issues.
My business education and professional work experience provided
many important skills and abilities including budget analysis, forecasting
and the ability to identify where others with specialized skills
can provide insight to people making decisions. I will use these
skills to make sound financial decisions that provide for our current
needs without compromising Winter Park's future financial stability.
But my civic service and city board work has given me the most
invaluable skills for serving as a city commissioner. I understand
and respect the value of citizen input and participation and my
service has given me an in-depth understanding of municipal business.

What are the top 3 priority issues facing your community, and
what actions would you take to address them if elected to office?
My top priority is to adopt a Growth Management Plan that ensures
we responsibly manage growth and development and then adhere to
the plan. Further, I will actively cultivate relationships with
neighboring municipalities so we can all work together to address
growth management issues.
Another priority is to make fiscally sound decisions that benefit
the community as a whole as opposed to a select few as the next
few years will bring increasing financial challenges as we address
property tax reform.
Finally, I want to restore trust and confidence in our city government
by ensuring that the citizens are heard before important decisions
are made and by respecting laws and processes that are in place.
I will begin with listening to, and implementing, the stated priorities
and vision of the citizens of Winter Park. The people who live in
this city are smart, informed and involved, and I respect that.
