Why are you running for this office, and what qualities and skills do you bring to this position?

I'm running to improve the quality of life in my community. Our district is not getting its fair share of services and I want to change that. In addition to having been VERY active in this district, I've got the experience of having worked many years for our local government; in particular having worked for the previous County District 3 Commissioner whose district overlaps this one I'm running for. I understand what local government can and should be doing for my neighbors and I; and as a longtime resident, understand what the needs exist in our neighborhoods.

What are the top 3 priority issues facing your community, and what actions would you take to address them if elected to office?

Make fighting crime a higher priority at City Hall! Work to have more police officers hired and patrolling neighborhoods - especially in District 2! Ensure our neighborhood schools are safe and have the resources they need available to teach our children.

Make sure District 2 gets its "fair share" of City services - from consistent garbage collection to more street lighting in our neighborhoods, and timely repairs of streets and sidewalks! I also want to work with code enforcement to address "real" district issues, like our problem with the unsightly abandoned shopping carts.

Revitalize our commercial areas by cleaning up our main roadways to attract higher paying jobs and "good corporate neighbors" to our area. Create a "business friendly" environment that engages our local companies to give back to our community and encourages them to serve as a resource to our local schools.

Make sure services and programs for our seniors are made readily available and easily accessible. Further recruit more volunteers - especially seniors - to serve on City Advisory boards to utilize each person's expertise in helping advocate our district needs.
